“This conference brings together experts from around the world and a number of countries that are represented here. And so this conference allows people to talk to other people about the way of their assessment working. And they can see the things that are going really well and worry about things that are not going so well. It is a great conference,” Professor of Education at Durham University Peter Tymms has told AZERTAC.

“I think that people will go away with from this conference invigorated; they will pick up ideas that have come from here, learn things from other people and think of new ways of working. And we could see that already in the conference. So by the time we get to Friday we will see a lot of new ideas coming through, new ways of doing assessments using computers, new ways of assessing perhaps using the theories that are coming out that I was talking about earlier,” he said.

“I was discussing different ways of doing assessment. We very often focus on one type of assessment. So we are concentrating on computer based or paper-based assessments. But there are other ways of doing it using teachers’ assessments, using peer reviews, there are things may be we could assess we don’t normally assess such as personality, such as emphasis and so on. And those can affect peoples’ lives and have an impact on them,” Peter Tymms added.
