Peter Hermans (1952) has been working as an assessment specialist and consultant for more than 40 years with a special expertise in the design of innovative assessments and the assessment of creative competencies in art, design and technology. He was responsible for the design of the Dutch national examinations for visual arts in secondary education and developed skills oriented assessments in a variety of other subjects. He designed the first prototypes of Cito’s first computer based tests more than two decades ago. Since the beginning his career he served on a number of committees, guiding educational change and new approaches to educational assessment.
Mr Hermans was trained as a visual artist and educator. He currently holds a position on the Board of Examiners at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem and chairs the examination boards of the Academies of Theatre and Dance. He co-authored a chapter assessment of creativity on the latest edition of the Dutch handbook for assessment in Higher Education
